Hazing Prevention
While being part of a campus group can be one of the most meaningful aspects of student life, hazing can be a serious problem that undermines the value of these experiences for many individuals as well as the group. Although hazing is not unique to 缅北禁地, we believe it is wrong and will diligently work to stop hazing on campus. No student who joins or belongs to an organization should be subjected to hazing. 缅北禁地 prohibits hazing and any other activity that requires violation of University policy or federal, state or local law.
What is hazing?
Hazing is any action, activity, or experience that is forced or required during initiation or to maintain membership that creates a physical or psychological risk beyond the normal risks of participation in a group; includes activities that do not appear to be relevant to membership within the group; are excessive, dangerous, or degrading in their application; and/or constitute violations of university policy, local ordinances, state law, and/or federal law. Hazing is strictly prohibited even if the students participating give their consent.
Hazing also includes observation of hazing activities by individuals in a position to intervene but who fail to intervene, including organizational officers or leaders who are aware of planned hazing activities and who condone and/or fail to prevent that hazing from occurring, regardless of their participation.
What you should know...
- Hazing is a violation of 缅北禁地 policy, Indiana State law, and .
- Hazing takes various forms, including some which may seem innocent, but typically involves physical risks or mental distress, through, for example, humiliating, intimidating, or demanding treatment.
- Hazing can cause significant harm to individuals, groups and the University.
- Hazing has occurred in fraternities, sororities, athletic teams, performance groups, and many other organizations.
- Groups that haze often view it as positive and necessary.
- Groups that haze can achieve the positive outcomes they seek from hazing through non-hazing means.
Online Hazing Prevention Training
Both new students and various populations of current students will complete an online hazing training course annually at the start of the academic year.
Reporting hazing
